I realise that it has been a while since my last post and the title sounds rather sombre but I'm still here and apparently I'm alive and kicking. Well, at least, according to the doctor who has just signed me off for the Channel Swim. This is the second time that I have been required to pass a medical for a swimming event, the first of which was my solo attempt of Windermere (which also happened to cover my channel relay as well).
I’m happy to report that I passed, or at least I’m not dead yet and the doctor thinks that the attempt won’t kill me. What a relief…
It seems remarkably close now to my solo English Channel attempt, and training is ramping up. The main issue that I’m having at the moment is that life gets in the way and sometimes finding a decent time at a local pool and fitting swimming in around work and family life is rather hard. I really can’t wait for the warmer months where I can start doing longer distances outside.
On a slight different note, just before Christmas I got my certificate for the relay. Just need to get it framed now.
