When I started this challange one thing I didn't think about was my health. I'm a reasonably healthy person, I'm not often ill and I very rarely go to the doctors.
In the last month or so I've been at the doctors far too often. I've had to drop forms in, have ECGs, other medical tests and pay a considerable amount of money to be poked, prodded and to pee in a cup. I'm not the biggest fan of being poked and prodded, especially if I have to pay for the privilege. That being said, I've been impressed that the doctors surgery have shown a healthy interest in making sure that I'm up for the challange of Windermere and the channel relay this year. It has taken a while with the various tests but I now have a signed medical form! It's a load off my mind as it is the same form I need for my actual channel swim so I know I'm OK for next year. Shame I have to pay for another one as it doesn't last!

I had a bit of a break from swimming the last few weeks, I cut out most of my long distance pool work and only swam outside. It is remarkable how much warmer the water has gotten in the last few weeks, it's now a lovely 14 deg C. This does, however, mean one rather alarming thing: I'm going to have to do my qualifying swim sooner than I was planning. The qualifying swim is all about being able to spend time in the water; for a Channel relay you have to spend 2 hours in sub 16deg C water, for the solo swim it is 6 hours. That's a long time!
On a different note there are tickets left for the Hog Roast & Race Night, see my previous post for more information.
