As you have probably guessed from the title this blog entry is going to be a shameless plug for sponsorship. For those of you who have visited my JustGiving page (not many judging from the number of people who have sponsored me so far) you will have noticed that I have a target amount of £5000. This is not an insubstantial amount of money and I'm starting early to make sure I achieve it. Aspire is such a brilliant charity and they really deserve not only my support but yours as well to help people with spinal injuries. If everyone who had read my blog had each donated a pound we would have raised just over 17% of that amount. Please take the time to visit my page there is a link on each page of this blog.
Ok, I've guilted everyone enough for now but I will be back... A few people have asked how I'm going to raise so much and I have a few ideas, some of which can be seen below and some will be more successful than others. If you have any suggestions let me know via the comments on this page or Twitter, Facebook etc.
1) Sweepstakes. So far I've only done one at work (and it was for Wimbledon) but it didn't get as many takers as I'd hoped. Those that did play raised £50 for Aspire and I just want to say thank you for the support and for getting the ball rolling. There will be several more over different sporting events to come.
2) As I'm surrounded by F1 fans at work (you have to be some sort of fan to work in the business) I've been doing a top 4 predictor. Basically you have to guess the top 4 positions at each grand prix, half the money raised goes to Aspire the other half is split amongst the winner / winners. Again thanks to all those at work who keep playing, trust me it's harder to win than you might think.
3) Soon, once, I've finished doing some garden work, I'm going to have a fundraising BBQ. This might not be this year but at some point I'll have one and ask people to donate in exchange for my cooking abilities (no comments about my burning , sorry cooking skills).
4) Writing a blog and asking people to donate, whoops just given the game away about why I'm writing a blog...
5) Anything that will raise money for Aspire, if you have any suggestions...
