I have a countdown clock on my phone and the numbers are slowly counting down the days to my channel swim for Aspire. 610 days; sounds like a long time doesn't it? That's how long I have till my crossing attempt, 610 days.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to complete my channel crossing in about twelve, I don't mind if it is 12h and 59m but I'd like it to start with a twelve. This is probably the wrong thing to be thinking about as the tide has more of an impact on the crossing time than I will. As I learnt the other weekend sometimes the current will stop you dead in your tracks.
I have 2 swim events booked for next year so far; the first being the Henley Swim Bridge2Bridge, 14 km down the Thames non wetsuited of course. The second swim is more of a holiday, where I get to spend a few days swimming around Lake Powell in Arizona averaging around 5km per day. Hopefully it will be as good as it looks in the brochure...
I'm also toying with the idea of a 10km sea swim from Sandbanks to Southbourne, it is in September so the water will probably be a bit colder than my channel crossing but it's all good training.
For those of you who thought this post was about Countdown the tv show, try solving the following:
Target 610: using 12, 59, 2, 14, 5, 10. Let me know if you get there...
There are at least 2 ways I've found.
